Problems in Geometry (Problem Books in Mathematics)
Marcel Berger, P. Pansu, J.-P. Berry, X. Saint-Raymond, Silvio Levy, "Problems in Geometry (Problem Books in Mathematics)"
English | 1984 | ISBN: 0387909710, 1441928227 | 276 pages | PDF | 5.7 MB
Written as a supplement to Marcel Berger's popular two-volume set, Geometry I and II (Universitext), this book offers a comprehensive range of exercises, problems, and full solutions. Each chapter corresponds directly to one in the relevant volume, from which it also provides a summary of key ideas. Where the original Geometry volumes tend toward challenging problems without hints, this book offers a wide range of material that begins at an accessible level, and includes suggestions for nearly every problem. Bountiful in illustrations and complete in its coverage of topics from affine and projective spaces, to spheres and conics, Problems in Geometry is a valuable addition to studies in geometry at many levels.

Problems in Analysis (Problem Books in Mathematics)
B. Gelbaum, "Problems in Analysis (Problem Books in Mathematics)"
English | 1982 | ISBN: 0387906924, 1461576806 | 228 pages | PDF | 6.2 MB
These problems and solutions are offered to students of mathematics who have learned real analysis, measure theory, elementary topology and some theory of topological vector spaces. The current widely used texts in these subjects provide the background for the understanding of the problems and the finding of their solutions. In the bibliography the reader will find listed a number of books from which the necessary working vocabulary and techniques can be acquired. Thus it is assumed that terms such as topological space, u-ring, metric, measurable, homeomorphism, etc., and groups of symbols such as AnB, x EX, f: IR 3 X 1-+ X 2 - 1, etc., are familiar to the reader. They are used without introductory definition or explanation. Nevertheless, the index provides definitions of some terms and symbols that might prove puzzling. Most terms and symbols peculiar to the book are explained in the various introductory paragraphs titled Conventions. Occasionally definitions and symbols are introduced and explained within statements of problems or solutions. Although some solutions are complete, others are designed to be sketchy and thereby to give their readers an opportunity to exercise their skill and imagination. Numbers written in boldface inside square brackets refer to the bib liography. I should like to thank Professor P. R. Halmos for the opportunity to discuss with him a variety of technical, stylistic, and mathematical questions that arose in the writing of this book. Buffalo, NY B.R.G.

Problems and Theorems in Linear Algebra
V. V. Prasolov, "Problems and Theorems in Linear Algebra"
English | 1994 | ISBN: 0821802364 | 225 pages | PDF | 1.4 MB
There are a number of very good books available on linear algebra. From this one might deduce that the existing books contain all that one needs to know in the best possible form and that any new book would just repeat material in the old ones. However, new results in linear algebra appear constantly, as do new, simpler, and better proofs of old results. Many linear algebra results obtained in the past thirty years are accessible to undergraduate mathematics majors, but are usually ignored by textbooks. In addition, more than a few interesting old results are not covered in many books. In this book, Prasolov provides the basics of linear algebra, with an emphasis on new results and on nonstandard and interesting proofs. The book features about 230 problems with complete solutions. It would be a fine supplementary text for an undergraduate or graduate algebra course.

Plant Biotechnology and Medicinal Plants Periwinkle, Milk Thistle and Foxglove
Mohamed Ramadan Rady, "Plant Biotechnology and Medicinal Plants: Periwinkle, Milk Thistle and Foxglove"
English | 2019 | ISBN: 3030229289 | PDF | pages: 213 | 3.1 mb
Plant tissue culture and advanced biotechnologies have proven to be influential tools that complement conventional breeding and accelerate development of many medicinal plants. Various approaches, such as pathway engineering, precursor feeding, transformation, elicitation with biotic and abiotic elicitors and scaling up in bioreactors, have been explored to improve the production of secondary metabolites from different medicinal plants. This book provides a comprehensive description of various studies, carried out on in vitro culture and hairy root cultures of Catharanthus roseus, Silybum marianum and Digitalis species which have been considered as alternative sources for the production of anti-tumour compounds, flavonolignans and cardenolides. Specific focus is on elicitation strategy for increasing production of bioactive compounds of C. roseus L., S. marianum and Digitalis species to overcome the constrains of conventional propagation. This book is valuable for researchers or students working on medicinal plants, phytochemistry, and plant tissue culture. It also serves as a reference for the pharmaceutical industry.
