Oxford Reader's Companion to Trollope
Oxford Reader's Companion to Trollope By R. C. Terry
1999 | 653 Pages | ISBN: 0198662106 | PDF | 21 MB
The author of forty-seven novels, plus travel books, biographies, essays, and critical works, Anthony Trollope (1815-1882) was the most prolific of the great Victorian writers. Now The Oxford Reader's Companion to Trollope brings together thirty-six leading scholars who provide an accessible, authoritative, and wide-ranging reference work on this important literary figure. Here, in more than 500 A-Z entries, readers will find a wealth of information on Trollope's life, his works, and the historical and social context in which he lived. Trollope's writing career spanned almost half a century and his circle of friends reads like a who's who of Victorian England--and it's all captured here. The contributors offer illuminating essays on Trollope's major works--including the famed Barsetshire Novels and Paliser Novels--as well as on the many lesser known but no less accomplished books. The volume also examines Trollope's personal life, offering fresh information on such well documented aspects as his work at the Post Office and his famous circle of friends. Moreover, the contributors provide the most recent findings on aspects of Trollope's career only recently addressed by scholars: his work as a biographer and journalist, the importance of his extensive travels abroad, and the astonishing reappraisal of his work over the last few decades. And the Companion includes a chronology of Trollope's life, a family tree, maps, a thematic overview, and an extensive bibliography. Packed with information based on the most current research, this attractively illustrated volume provides an unparalleled guide to one of the great nineteenth-century writers. It belongs on the shelf of everyone who loves English literature.

Ordinary Differential Equations in Theory and Practice
Ordinary Differential Equations in Theory and Practice By Robert Mattheij, Jaap Molenaar
2002 | 424 Pages | ISBN: 0898715318 | PDF | 31 MB
In order to emphasize the relationships and cohesion between analytical and numerical techniques, Ordinary Differential Equations in Theory and Practice presents a comprehensive and integrated treatment of both aspects in combination with the modeling of relevant problem classes. This text is uniquely geared to provide enough insight into qualitative aspects of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) to offer a thorough account of quantitative methods for approximating solutions numerically and to acquaint the reader with mathematical modeling, where such ODEs often play a significant role. Originally published in 1995, the text remains timely and useful to a wide audience. It provides a thorough introduction to ODEs, since it treats not only standard aspects such as existence, uniqueness, stability, one-step methods, multistep methods, and singular perturbations, but also chaotic systems, differential-algebraic systems, and boundary value problems. The authors aim to show the use of ODEs in real life problems, so there is an extended chapter in which not only the general concepts of mathematical modeling but also illustrative examples from various fields are presented. A chapter on classical mechanics makes the book self-contained. Audience The book is intended as a textbook for both undergraduate and graduate courses, and it can also serve as a reference for students and researchers alike. Contents Preface to the Classics Edition; Preface; Chapter 1: Introduction; Chapter 2: Existence, Uniqueness, and Dependence on Parameters; Chapter 3: Numerical Analysis of One-Step Methods; Chapter 4: Linear Systems; Chapter 5: Stability; Chapter 6: Chaotic Systems; Chapter 7: Numerical Analysis of Multistep Methods; Chapter 8: Singular Perturbations and Stiff Differential Equations; Chapter 9: Differential-Algebraic Equations; Chapter 10: Boundary Value Problems; Chapter 11: Concepts from Classical Mechanics; Chapter 12: Mathematical Modelling; Appendices; References; Index.

Noumenal Reflections
Jan de Maansnijder, "Noumenal Reflections"
English | 2020 | ASIN: B087SJVW54 | PDF | pages: 119 | 0.9 mb
The Dutch alchemist Johannes Mondschneider is reputed to have said "I certainly know that inside the bowels of the raven above there is a pure white dove." This little book I present to you as a raven. There are many things within its bowels, some expositions on metaphysics, some exercises in comparative religion, some hagiographies, some reviews, some translations, and even a poem. Disparate essays, connected only by the thread of an attempted beginning at an alternative to modernity, are collected here for your reading pleasure.

Never Too Fast The Paul Tracy Story
Never Too Fast: The Paul Tracy Story By Paul Ferriss
2001 | 289 Pages | ISBN: 1550224697 | PDF | 6 MB
This book details the Paul Tracy story: Paul Tracy was just a youngster when he discovered fast cars. Growing up in West Hill, Ontario, Paul dreamt of his hero Gilles Villeneuve, and when his father left him at the local go-kart track with a full tank of gas each morning, he retrieved Paul-and the empty tank-at night. Tracy rose quickly through racing's minor leagues, setting and breaking records as he went. At 17 he was racing cars with twice the horsepower of the family cars his friends were just learning to drive. Veteran team managers and drivers knew they were seeing someone special on the track: a quiet kid with the looks of a boy scout and the desire of a champion. Soon Tracy dominated kart racing, won at Can-Am racing, and ruled Indy Lights. He then stormed into the Championship Auto Racing Team circuit, racing wheel to wheel with Emerson Fittipaldi and Mario Andretti. In those early races, even driving an underpowered car, Tracy proved he could run with the big boys. But Paul Tracy's success has come with its share of hardships. His aggressive driving style on the cart circuit has made almost as many enemies as fans. He's been criticized, penalized, and vilified both on and off the track. Nevertheless, two things remain consistent-his desire to drive fast, and his desire to win.
