Freedom, Justice, and Decolonization by Lewis Gordon
English | Dec 31, 2020 | ISBN: 0367632969, 0367632462 | 158 pages | PDF | 6 MB
The eminent scholar Lewis R. Gordon offers a probing meditation on freedom, justice, and decolonization. What is there to be understood and done when it is evident that the search for justice, which dominates social and political philosophy of the North, is an insufficient approach for the achievements of dignity, freedom, liberation, and revolution? Gordon takes the reader on a journey as he interrogates a trail from colonized philosophy to re-imagining liberation and revolution to critical challenges raised by Afropessimism, theodicy, and looming catastrophe. He offers not forecast and foreclosure but instead an urgent call for dignifying and urgent acts of political commitment. Such movements take the form of examining what philosophy means in Africana philosophy, liberation in decolonial thought, and the decolonization of justice and normative life. Gordon issues a critique of the obstacles to cultivating emancipatory politics, challenging reductionist forms of thought that proffer harm and suffering as conditions of political appearance and the valorization of nonhuman being. He asserts instead emancipatory considerations for occluded forms of life and the irreplaceability of existence in the face of catastrophe and ruin, and he concludes, through a discussion with the Circassian philosopher and decolonial theorist, Madina Tlostanova, with the project of shifting the geography of reason.

Kurt E. Oughstun, "Electromagnetic and Optical Pulse Propagation: Volume 2: Temporal Pulse Dynamics in Dispersive Attenuative Media"
English | 2019 | ISBN: 3030206912 | PDF | pages: 810 | 42.0 mb
In two volumes, this book presents a detailed, systematic treatment of electromagnetics with application to the propagation of transient electromagnetic fields (including ultrawideband signals and ultrashort pulses) in dispersive attenuative media. The development in this expanded, updated, and reorganized new edition is mathematically rigorous, progressing from classical theory to the asymptotic description of pulsed wave fields in Debye and Lorentz model dielectrics, Drude model conductors, and composite model semiconductors. It will be of use to researchers as a resource on electromagnetic radiation and wave propagation theory with applications to ground and foliage penetrating radar, medical imaging, communications, and safety issues associated with ultrawideband pulsed fields. With meaningful exercises, and an authoritative selection of topics, it can also be used as a textbook to prepare graduate students for research.

Einstein, Relativity, and Mind by Peter March
English | 2013 | ISBN: N/A | ASIN: B00D71ZACW | 101 pages | Rar (PDF, AZW3) | 0.51 Mb
Einstein's work continued that of Galileo, and Newton, and brought Relativity to a high level of development. His intellectual strategies may not be familiar to all so the first part of this short book describes the relational theory which he employed. The second part shows that the strategies he used work just as well in philosophy as they did in physics; here the techniques are applied to the philosophy of mind, suggesting a radically new philosophy of mind which promises to answer many of the questions which still remain unanswered.

Einstein's Physics for the Lay Person: How Einstein Revolutionized Our Understanding Of The Universe by Madeleine Santos
English | 2018 | ISBN: N/A | ASIN: B07BHX2VR7 | 201 pages | MOBI | 1.48 Mb
Chances are that you have heard about Albert Einstein and you know that he is the genius of all geniuses and is considered by many as the smartest man who ever lived. But do you really know and understand what he had accomplished? It is possible that you may have read his biography and learned that he revolutionized our perception of space, time and gravity and he transformed our understanding of the universe but did you really understand what those meant? If you really want to understand and truly appreciate what Einstein accomplished then this book is for you. All you need is to remember the things you learned in the science courses during your student days and a curious mind. As you read about Einstein's accomplishments, you will be introduced to the fascinating world of modern physics where you will learn about his special and general relativity theories, cosmology with emphasis on the Big Bang theory, quantum theory and particle physics. These subject matters are explained in terms of simple scientific and math concepts and using analogies that a lay person can easily understand. You will go through an exhilarating reading adventure as you learn about the space-time continuum, the slowing down of time, the warping of space, gravitational time dilation, the gravitational bending of light, the expanding universe, the "echo of creation", black holes, dark matter, dark energy, energy quantum, photons, entanglement, Schrodinger's Cat, quarks, antimatter, the Higgs field, the "God particle", the inflationary model of the universe and many more. Along the way, you will meet many other geniuses whose scientific accomplishments were directly or indirectly profoundly influenced by Einstein.
