Form, Meaning and Function in Collocation A Corpus Study on Commercial Chinese-to-English Transla...
Haoda Feng, "Form, Meaning and Function in Collocation: A Corpus Study on Commercial Chinese-to-English Translation "
English | ISBN: 0367321300 | 2020 | 198 pages | PDF | 7 MB
The issue of differences between translational language and native-speaker language has become a topic of increasing interest in linguistics and Translation Studies (TS). One of the primary tasks in this research area is to employ a corpus approach and analyse collocations with authentic language data by comparing comparable corpora consisting of translated and native-speaker texts. Collocation in linguistics and TS refers to the relationship of co-occurrence between lexical items. The book shows that examining the use of collocations constitutes an integral part in assessing the naturalness of second language (L2) use, and therefore can be a valid measure to make a distinction between translational language and native-speaker language.

Essentials of Business Economics
D N Dwivedi, "Essentials of Business Economics"
English | ISBN: 8125924000 | 2010 | 466 pages | PDF | 6 MB
This book is a short and simpler version of the author's popular book Managerial Economics, and is focused at undergraduates. The need for such a book arose due to the rapidly growing demand for professional managerial manpower over the past two decades, as a result of which, most Indian universities and the mushrooming management institutes had to introduce degree and diploma courses right at the undergraduate level, with 'Business Economics' as a separate paper. The subject matter of this book is based largely on the model syllabus of Business Economics recommended by the UGC for BBA students, though it contains many other topics for the sake of completeness of the subject and for covering the syllabi of a large number of universities. This book is intended to meet the requirement of the undergraduate students of business administration, i.e., BBA, BBE, B Com, and PGDBM courses run by the Indian universities and management institutes. Although this book is based largely on the author's Managerial Economics, there is a good deal of difference between the two in respect of the scope of the subject matter and the level of analytical treatment. Managerial Economics has been written with a wider scope and perspective, encompassing both microeconomic and macroeconomic aspects of managerial decision-making, whereas the scope of this book is confined to only microeconomic aspects of managerial economics. However, some new chapters and sections have been added here to meet the syllabi requirement of various universities. Another and a major difference between the two books is the level of treatment of the subject matter. Whereas Managerial Economics being a higher level book, is more technical especially in respect of the theoretical aspects, the treatment of the subject matter in this book is relatively simple and elaborate. The book is written with the objective of making the subject of business economics easily comprehensible to undergraduate students. The attempt has been made to present the subject matter in a siample, clear and lucid manner keeping in mind the target section of the students. I am sure that the book will meet the purpose with which it has been written.
