English | ISBN: 3030609979 | 2020 | 357 pages | EPUB, PDF | 8 MB + 5 MB
This volume delineates the ways in which key areas of healthcare, well-being, patient safety and organisational change overlap with and contribute to unhealthy workplaces for healthcare professionals. There is a growing realisation within healthcare that healthcare worker well-being, patient outcomes and organisational change are symbiotically linked. Burnout and stress in healthcare workers and toxic organisational cultures can lead to a cycle of patient neglect, medical errors, sub-optimal care and further stress. This topical volume therefore outlines the ways in which worker well-being, patient outcomes and organisational change can be aligned to contribute to a healthy workplace and therefore better medical care. The volume includes an array of authors from different disciplines including primary care, clinical medicine, psychology, sociology, management, clinical governance, health policy and health services research. It succeeds in integrating different voices and reaches meaningful conclusions to address the challenges facing the healthcare workforce.
Conflicts Of Rights: Moral Theory And Social Policy Implications by John Rowan
English | January 26, 2001 | ISBN-10: 0813365643 | 238 pages | PDF | 22,7 MB
The language of rights is utilized frequently in debates over contemporary social issues-a fetus's "right to life" versus a woman's "right to choose," for example. Because these debates pertain to what our social policies should be, it is clear that the rights in question are moral rights, and that existing legal rights ought to be changed or maintained accordingly.

Communications: An International History of the Formative Years (History of Technology) By Russell Burns
2003 | 652 Pages | ISBN: 0863413277 | PDF | 7 MB
This is a large book in which chronology often takes the place of reflections on ideas and development. Several times the author jumps into the future to compare what he is talking about with what has happend decades later. Economics and technology are mixed up in a messy way. It is a difficult reading. I was striken by the fact that the Author avoids to cite in chapters 1 and 2 the very good book by Holzmann and Pehrson on the early optical systems.

The Kingdom of Castile in the late Middle Ages suffered from regular civil strife, warfare, dynastic contests, and violence, such that only a century before the birth of the Spanish Empire, it is difficult to imagine a successful world empire centered in this tumultuous realm. The chaos that marked this period of Castilian history was not mere chance, but the result of key historical developments which have not been fully examined in Anglophone scholarship.
