Darwin, His Daughter & human evolution
Darwin, His Daughter & human evolution By Randal Keynes
2002 | 446 Pages | ISBN: 1573221929 | DJVU | 3 MB
"A profoundly moving book . . . itself a work of genius." (Publishing News, UK)In a chest of drawers bequeathed by his grandmother, author Randal Keynes found the writing case of Charles Darwin's beloved daughter Annie, who died at the age of ten. Within the box, among the typical keepsakes of a Victorian girlhood, were the notes Darwin kept throughout Annie's illness and the eloquent and devastating eulogy he delivered at her funeral. For Keynes, a great-great grandson of Darwin, Annie's writing case became the point of entry into the story of Darwin's family life and its influence on the development of his revolutionary understanding of man's place in nature.Keynes takes us into the family's private world and draws on a wealth of previously unseen material to tell the story of Darwin's home life and his private struggle with his faith. Particularly fascinating is the revealing portrait of Emma, Darwin's wife-a complex and freethinking woman, in many ways ahead of her time.As Darwin's theories continue to shape so much of our thinking about the roots of human nature, Darwin, His Daughter, and Human Evolution reveals the personal experience from which he drew his most deeply held ideas.

Cutaneous Drug Eruptions Diagnosis, Histopathology and Therapy
John C. Hall, "Cutaneous Drug Eruptions: Diagnosis, Histopathology and Therapy"
English | ISBN: 1447167287 | 2015 | 484 pages | EPUB | 10 MB
The burden of cutaneous drug reactions is significant, in both outpatient and inpatient settings, and can result in morbidity and even mortality. This book is unique in its approach to this problem. This text is divided into basic principles, common drug reactions, skin conditions mimicked by drug reactions, drug reactions to the skin appendages, life-threatening drug reactions, less common drug reactions, and special groupings of drug reactions. For the clinician, the skin can only morphologically react in to many limited ways. This is also true for the pathologist. Combining these two forever linked specialties is a synergistic paradigm that greatly enhances diagnosis, and ultimately therapy, for these pernicious conditions. Drug reactions in the skin remain a common complication of therapy. True incidences of drug reactions are not available. For general discussion, the rule of 3% can be applied with reasonable assuredness. Approximately 3% of all hospitalized patients develop an adverse cutaneous drug reaction. Approximately 3% of these reactions are considered severe. Outpatient data is even more obscure, but at least 3% of dermatology clinic outpatient visits are due to a drug reaction. Cutaneous drug reactions compromise approximately 3% of all drug reactions. Even more challenging is the fact that the most vulnerable populations to drug reactions are increasing and include the elderly patients on prolonged drug therapy, and patients that use multiple drugs at the same time.

Curry Good! Discover What's with a Curry that Makes It Delightful
Curry Good!: Discover What's with a Curry that Makes It Delightful by April Blomgren
English | December 23, 2019 | ISBN: 1679800485 | 110 pages | Rar (PDF, AZW3) | 6.58 Mb
By the look and smell of it, a curry seems extremely complicated. Well, that's true in some ways. Curry is of Indian origins. It is traditionally made with a complex mix of different herbs and spices. Much of it includes the leaves taken from a curry tree, sans the name of the dish. As other cuisines adapted the curry, they made several other versions that are not quite the original but still maintains the curry goodness - flavorful and rich sauce with very tender meat and some choice veggies.

Current Applications for Overcoming Resistance to Targeted Therapies (Repost)
Myron R. Szewczuk, Bessi Qorri, Manpreet Sambi, "Current Applications for Overcoming Resistance to Targeted Therapies"
English | 2019 | ISBN: 3030214761 | PDF | pages: 328 | 6.9 mb
Targeted therapies were initially developed to exploit the upregulation and dependence on key oncogenic pathways critical to cancer progression. Additionally, they also presented as a method to overcome chemoresistance by supplementing conventional therapeutic regimens with targeted therapies. However, the development of resistance to these combinatorial approaches has led to the reassessment of currently available therapeutic options to overcome resistance to targeted therapy. This book aims to provide an update on the advancements in the therapeutic arms race between cancer, clinicians and scientists alike to overcome resistance to targeted therapies. Subject experts provide a comprehensive overview of the challenges and solutions to resistance to several conventional targeted therapies in addition to providing a discussion on broad topics including targeting components of the tumor microenvironment, emerging therapeutic options, and novel areas to be explored concerning nanotechnology and the epigenome.
