Renewable Energy Technologies for Energy Efficient Sustainable Development
Renewable Energy Technologies for Energy Efficient Sustainable Development
English | 2022 | ISBN: 3030876322 | 410 Pages | PDF | 9 MB
The depletion of fossil fuel reserves and concerns for environmental degradation due to the fossil fuel burning have led the scientific community to look for alternative renewable energy sources. Among the available renewable energy sources, bioenergy derived from biomass and waste resources have great potential to not only prevent environmental pollution but also be a carbon neutral energy source. In addition, adaptation of this technology could streamline new green products, alternative energy sources into real-world applications and promote a circular economy towards zero-waste approach. This book tries to bridge the existing knowledge gap in the area of bioenergy resources. The first two chapters provide introduction to the anaerobic digestion (AD) technologies and direct interspecies electron transfer in AD. The next three chapters are on biomass pretreatment technologies for process improvement. The sixth to eighth chapter discuses biogas and other by-product production from specific wastes such from dairy, food and agricultural solid waste. The following two chapters focuses on the downstream processing of anaerobic digestate and on biochar production. Integration of AD in biorefineries using bioelectrochemical systems, syngas fermentation and electricity production are discussed in the next three chapters. The final two chapters elaborates on life cycle assessment of AD based technologies.

Religions of the Constantinian Empire
Religions of the Constantinian Empire by Mark Edwards
English | January 19, 2016 | ISBN: 0199687722, 0198785240 | True EPUB | 376 pages | 0.9 MB
Religions of the Constantinian Empire provides a synoptic review of Constantine's relation to all the cultic and theological traditions of the Empire during the period from his seizure of power in the west in 306 CE to the end of his reign as autocrat of both east and west in 337 CE. Divided into three parts, the first considers the efforts of Christians to construct their own philosophy, and their own patterns of the philosophic life, in opposition to Platonism. The second assembles evidence of survival, variation or decay in religious practices which were never compulsory under Roman law. The "religious plurality" of the second section includes those cults which are represented as demonic burlesques of the sacraments by Firmicus Maternus. The third reviews the changes, both within the church and in the public sphere, which were undeniably prompted by the accession of a Christian monarch. In this section on "Christian polyphony," Mark Edwards expertly moves on from this deliberate petrifaction of Judaism to the profound shift in relations between the church and the civic cult that followed the Emperor's choice of a new divine protector.

Quantum Mechanics for Nuclear Structure, Volume 1 A primer
Quantum Mechanics for Nuclear Structure, Volume 1: A primer
English | 2020 | ISBN: 0750321776 | 281 Pages | PDF EPUB MOBI (True) | 38 MB
This book - the first of a two-volume set - provides a comprehensive introduction to quantum mechanics for nuclear structure for advanced undergraduate and postgraduate students entering the field. The goal is the theoretical description of nuclear structure, beginning with logical foundations based on linear spaces and operators, as applied to two-state systems: both polarized photons and spin-1/2 particles. This leads to the logic behind the physical structure and an axiomatic formulation using linear spaces and operators. The one-dimensional harmonic oscillator is featured as the epitome of the mathematics and the physics. Matrix mechanics is introduced as the fundamental approach needed for calculations of eigenstates. The basics of measurement theory are covered. Wave functions and time dependence are developed using continuous transformation operators. A basic introduction to group theory and the algebra of angular momentum is given. Central force problems are handled algebraically. Finally, charged particle motion in a magnetic field is quantized to illustrate the power of algebraic approaches.

Protecting Whiteness Whitelash and the Rejection of Racial Equality
Protecting Whiteness: Whitelash and the Rejection of Racial Equality by Cameron D. Lippard, J. Scott Carter
English | Dec 15, 2020 | ISBN: 0295747986, 0295747994 | 296 pages | PDF | 3 MB
The standoff at Cliven Bundy's ranch, the rise of white identity activists on college campuses, and the viral growth of white nationalist videos on YouTube vividly illustrate the resurgence of white supremacy and overt racism in the United States. White resistance to racial equality can be subtle as well―like art museums that enforce their boundaries as elite white spaces, "right on crime" policies that impose new modes of surveillance and punishment for people of color, and environmental groups whose work reinforces settler colonial norms.
