Image Encounters Moche Murals and Archaeo Art History
Image Encounters: Moche Murals and Archaeo Art History by Lisa Trever
2022 | ISBN: 1477324275, 1477324267 | English | 344 pages | PDF | 92 MB
Moche murals of northern Peru represent one of the great, yet still largely unknown, artistic traditions of the ancient Americas. Created in an era without written scripts, these murals are key to understandings of Moche history, society, and culture. In this first comprehensive study on the subject, Lisa Trever develops an interdisciplinary methodology of "archaeo art history" to examine how ancient histories of art can be written without texts, boldly inverting the typical relationship of art to archaeology.

ICAOS '96: 12th International Conference on Analysis and Optimization of Systems Images, Wavelets and PDEs Paris, June 26-28, 1996 By Luis Alvarez (auth.), Dr. Marie-Odile Berger, Dr. Rachid Deriche, Dr. Isabelle Herlin, Dr. Jérome Jaffré, Professor Jean-Michel Morel (eds.)
1996 | 362 Pages | ISBN: 3540760768 | PDF | 28 MB
This volume contains the proceedings of ICAOS '96 the 12th International Conference on Analysis and Optimization of Systems. This conference was co-organized by INRIA and the CEREMADE and was dedicated to Images, Wavelets and PDE's. The aim of the conference was to discuss the impact on image analysis of recent mathematical developments in multiscale analysis, partial differential equations, variational methods and so on. ICAOS '96 provided a forum for image processing researchers and mathematicians to interact and to exchange their technical knowledge and experience, theoretical or practical, in this emerging and exciting domain. The selected papers have been organized according to the following sessions, each session corresponding to a section of the book: 1. Active Contours; 2. Image Enhancement and Restoration, Scale-Spaces; 3. Wavelets; 4. Image Segmentation; 5. Image Restoration; 6. Coding; 7. Applications.

Human Perception of Visual Information Psychological and Computational Perspectives
Human Perception of Visual Information : Psychological and Computational Perspectives by Bogdan Ionescu
English | PDF,EPUB | 2022 | 297 Pages | ISBN : 3030814645 | 32.2 MB
Recent years have witnessed important advancements in our understanding of the psychological underpinnings of subjective properties of visual information, such as aesthetics, memorability, or induced emotions. Concurrently, computational models of objective visual properties such as semantic labelling and geometric relationships have made significant breakthroughs using the latest achievements in machine learning and large-scale data collection. There has also been limited but important work exploiting these breakthroughs to improve computational modelling of subjective visual properties. The time is ripe to explore how advances in both of these fields of study can be mutually enriching and lead to further progress.

Human Fungal Pathogens
Human Fungal Pathogens By
2014 | 298 Pages | ISBN: 3642394310 | PDF | 7 MB
Whereas plant and insect infections are commonly caused by fungi, only a small minority of the vast diversity of fungal species is pathogenic to humans. Despite this, fungal infections cause considerable morbidity and mortality worldwide. This volume is dedicated to the biology, clinical presentation and management of invasive fungal infections. Major pathogenic fungi are introduced by world-leading experts and the basic principles of fungal virulence are reviewed in the light of new results and experimental technologies that offer unprecedented insights into invasive infections caused by Aspergillus, Candida, Cryptococcus, Pneumocystis and Mucorales. In parallel, the clinical presentation of invasive fungal infections and current approaches to their diagnosis and treatment are summarized to provide an overview of human pathogenic fungi, linking pathogen biology to the clinical presentation of disease.

Hall Caine Portrait of a Victorian Romancer
Hall Caine: Portrait of a Victorian Romancer By Vivien Allen
1997 | 350 Pages | ISBN: 1850756953 | PDF | 39 MB
This first full biography of the Victorian romantic novelist Hall Caine traces his life from childhood in Liverpool, through his time as 'housemate' to Dante Gabriel Rossetti and association with members of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood to his triumphant career as a popular novelist. Caine, a swashbuckling character who might have figured in one of his own novels, wrote fifteen novels and many non-fiction works. Vivien Allen has been able to take advantage of Caine's family papers and letters and, living in the Isle of Man, is well placed to write about this half-forgotten author of Manx descent who made his home there from 1896 until his death in 1931. The book contains letters to Hall Caine from the American, Dr Francis Tumblety who has been recently identified as the probable 'Jack the Ripper'. These letters were mentioned in the Channel 4 (UK) documentary 'Jack the Ripper' 1996. Much of the archive material was accessed with the assistance of the New York Public Library and the New York Theatre Museum.
