Joan, Lady of Wales Power & Politics of King John's Daughter [Audiobook]
English | ASIN: B0B75WCMCL | 2022 | 10 hours and 47 minutes | MP3 | M4B | 296 MB
The history of women in medieval Wales before the English conquest of 1282 is one largely shrouded in mystery. This misfortune touches even the most well-known royal woman of the time, Joan of England (d. 1237), the wife of Llywelyn the Great of Gwynedd, illegitimate daughter of King John and half-sister to Henry III. With evidence of her hand in thwarting a full scale English invasion of Wales to a notorious scandal that ended with the public execution of her supposed lover by her husband and her own imprisonment, Joan's is a known, but little-told or understood story defined by family turmoil, divided loyalties and political intrigue.
From the time her hand was promised in marriage as the result of the first Welsh-English alliance in 1201 to the end of her life, Joan's place in the political wranglings between England and the Welsh kingdom of Gwynedd was a fundamental one. This first-ever account of Siwan, as she was known to the Welsh, interweaves the details of her life and relationships with a gendered re-assessment of Anglo-Welsh politics by highlighting her involvement in affairs, discussing events in which she may well have been involved but have gone unrecorded and her overall deployment of royal female agency.

Inventor of the Future The Visionary Life of Buckminster Fuller [Audiobook]
English | ASIN: B09M2SJVTH | 2022 | 18 hours and 4 minutes | MP3 | M4B | 496 MB
A revelatory biography of the visionary designer who defined the rules of startup culture and shaped America's idea of the future. During his lifetime, Buckminster Fuller was hailed as one of the greatest geniuses of the twentieth century. As the architectural designer and futurist best known for the geodesic dome, he enthralled a vast popular audience, inspired devotion from both the counterculture and the establishment, and was praised as a modern Leonardo da Vinci. To his admirers, he exemplified what one man could accomplish by approaching urgent design problems using a radically unconventional set of strategies, which he based on a mystical conception of the universe's geometry. His views on sustainability, as embodied in the image of Spaceship Earth, convinced him that it was possible to provide for all humanity through the efficient use of planetary resources. From Epcot Center to the molecule named in his honor as the buckyball, Fuller's legacy endures to this day, and his belief in the transformative potential of technology profoundly influenced the founders of Silicon Valley.

In Broad Daylight A murder in Skidmore, Missouri (Audiobook)
English | 2014 | MP3 | M4B | ASIN: B00P9NDM9E | Duration: 14:01 h | 382 MB
Harry N. MacLean / Narrated by Dave Clark
In Broad Daylight tells the story of the killing of Ken Rex McElroy on the main street of Skidmore, Missouri, in July 1981. McElroy, an illiterate hog farmer, had terrorized all of northwest Missouri for over 20 years, until the town, and even law enforcement, was terrified of him. McElroy was shot as he sat in his truck in front of the tavern. Over 45 men witnessed the shooting. Despite two eyewitness accounts and three grand jury investigations, no one has been prosecuted for the crime. In Broad Daylight won an Edgar Award for Best True Crime. It was also made into a movie starring Brian Denehey, Cloris Leachman and Chris Cooper. It was re-released as an e-book on Amazon July 2012 on the 31st anniversary of the killing. St. Martin's Press published the last print edition in 2006. In "The Story Behind 'In Broad Daylight,'" MacLean tells how he researched and wrote the book. He tells of guns being drawn on him, being bitten by a dog, and a confrontation with the killer on the killer's ranch.

Holding the Line A Lifetime of Defending Democracy and American Values [Audiobook]
English | ASIN: B09T77F573 | 2022 | 5 hours and 16 minutes | MP3 | M4B | 145 MB
A behind-the-scenes political memoir written by a prominent White House physician. I would talk to the president before the chief of staff even saw the president in the morning. I walked into work, and I was already in the Oval Office talking to President Trump. It was rarely medical, to be honest with you; it was whatever was going on in the news. I'd be the first person he'd see in the morning. The president was completing tasks two to three hours before anybody else showed up in the West Wing to work. He'd get up at five o'clock in the morning and would be watching TV, tweeting, making phone calls, and doing all types of other tasks.
President Trump would poke his head into my office or I'd walk out, and we would say, "Good morning. Did you see this or that?" He was always asking me about things on TV and what was going on, from Iran to Stormy Daniels. He'd say, "Walk with me." So I'd walk him to the Oval Office, and we'd talk about everything. I'd walk out through the outer Oval Office and the chief of staff, national security advisor, and even the CIA briefer would be standing there, waiting to get in and talk to him. I'd walk out, they'd walk in, and his day would start. I was the first person he saw every morning and the last person he saw every evening when he went to bed.

English | 2015 | MP3 | M4B | ASIN: B017XWCUVE | Duration: 7:58 h | 217 MB
Rick Ross, Cathy Scott / Narrated by Kevin Pierce
Freeway Rick Ross: The Untold Autobiography is an intimate look at the day-to-day dealings of a drug kingpin in the heart of the ghetto. It's also the story of a boy born in poverty in Texas who grew up in a single-parent household in the heart of South Central, who was pushed through the school system each year and came out illiterate. His options were few, and he turned to drug dealing. This untold autobiography is not only personal, but also historical in its implications. Rick Ross chronicles the times by highlighting the social climate that made crack cocaine so desirable, and he points out that at the time, the "cops in the area didn't know what crack was; they didn't associate the small white rocks they saw on homies as illegal drugs". All Rick Ross knew was people wanted it.
