Law of Export Credit Insurance and Guarantees
Cheng Lin, "Law of Export Credit Insurance and Guarantees"
English | ISBN: 1032262931 | 2022 | 290 pages | PDF | 3 MB
Examining the law of export credit insurance and export credit guarantees, this book clarifies the legal nature of ECI and ECGs as insurance and guarantees respectively by comparing their legal characteristics regarding contract formation process, terms and conditions, duty of fair presentation, claim handling process and subrogation and recoveries. It further explores why some export credit agencies provide export credit guarantees in addition to export credit insurance, notwithstanding that an ECG is a more client-friendly product and easier than ECI for banks to use.

Law and Veganism International Perspectives on the Human Right to Freedom of Conscience
Jeanette Rowley, "Law and Veganism: International Perspectives on the Human Right to Freedom of Conscience"
English | ISBN: 1793622612 | 2021 | 306 pages | PDF | 37 MB
In our complex, consumerist societies, the intricacy of personal interactions and the number of goods and products available often prevents us from direct knowledge of what lies 'behind' food behaviors, ingredients, and the origins of the modern food and agriculture supply chain. Over the last decade or so, scholars, lawyers and engaged lay vegans have had many discussions about vegan rights and discrimination as issues intrinsic to animal rights, but the final frontier remains intact: the direct concerns of other animals. To give effect to the rights of animals, we must recognize and defend the human right-or duty, as many uphold- to care about them.

LGBT Populations and Cancer in the Global Context
LGBT Populations and Cancer in the Global Context
English | 2022 | ISBN: 3031065840 | 619 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 4 MB
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) also known as sexual and gender minority (SGM) populations have been the focus of global attention. Most importantly, LGBT populations have been addressed in the context of human rights in multiple reports and other activities by the United Nations and other international organizations. There is great variation among countries in the recognition of LGBT individuals' human rights. A global focus on LGBT populations' health is still limited, with the notable exception of HIV research. This book on LGBT populations and cancer in the global context is, therefore, an important step in that it will broaden the focus on LGBT populations' health.

Knowledge Representation and Inductive Reasoning using Conditional Logic and Sets of Ranking Functions
S. Kutsch, "Knowledge Representation and Inductive Reasoning using Conditional Logic and Sets of Ranking Functions "
English | ISBN: 1643681621 | 2021 | 184 pages | PDF | 6 MB
A core problem in Artificial Intelligence is the modeling of human reasoning. Classic-logical approaches are too rigid for this task, as deductive inference yielding logically correct results is not appropriate in situations where conclusions must be drawn based on the incomplete or uncertain knowledge present in virtually all real world scenarios. Since there are no mathematically precise and generally accepted definitions for the notions of plausible or rational, the question of what a knowledge base consisting of uncertain rules entails has long been an issue in the area of knowledge representation and reasoning. Different nonmonotonic logics and various semantic frameworks and axiom systems have been developed to address this question. The main theme of this book, Knowledge Representation and Inductive Reasoning using Conditional Logic and Sets of Ranking Functions, is inductive reasoning from conditional knowledge bases. Using ordinal conditional functions as ranking models for conditional knowledge bases, the author studies inferences induced by individual ranking models as well as by sets of ranking models. He elaborates in detail the interrelationships among the resulting inference relations and shows their formal properties with respect to established inference axioms. Based on the introduction of a novel classification scheme for conditionals, he also addresses the question of how to realize and implement the entailment relations obtained. In this work, Steven Kutsch convincingly presents his ideas, provides illustrating examples for them, rigorously defines the introduced concepts, formally proves all technical results, and fully implements every newly introduced inference method in an advanced Java library (). He significantly advances the state of the art in this field. Prof. Dr. Christoph Beierle of the FernUniversität in Hagen
