Inverse Problems and Zero Forcing for Graphs
English | 2022 | ISBN: 978-1470466558 | 302 pages | True PDF | 7.56 MB
This book provides an introduction to the inverse eigenvalue problem for graphs (IEP-$G$) and the related area of zero forcing, propagation, and throttling. The IEP-$G$ grew from the intersection of linear algebra and combinatorics and has given rise to both a rich set of deep problems in that area as well as a breadth of "ancillary" problems in related areas. The IEP-$G$ asks a fundamental mathematical question expressed in terms of linear algebra and graph theory, but the significance of such questions goes beyond these two areas, as particular instances of the IEP-$G$ also appear as major research problems in other fields of mathematics, sciences and engineering. One approach to the IEP-$G$ is through rank minimization, a relevant problem in itself and with a large number of applications. During the past 10 years, important developments on the rank minimization problem, particularly in relation to zero forcing, have led to significant advances in the IEP-$G$. The monograph serves as an entry point and valuable resource that will stimulate future developments in this active and mathematically diverse research area.

Introduction to Strong Interactions Theory and Applications
English | 2022 | ISBN: 978-1032206752 | 318 pages | True PDF | 13.04 MB
This is a problem-oriented introduction to the main ideas, methods, and problems needed to form a basic understanding of the theory of strong interactions. Each section contains solid but concise technical foundations to key concepts of the theory, and the level of rigor is appropriate for readers with a background in physics (rather than mathematics). It begins with a foundational introduction to topics including SU(N) group, hadrons and effective SU(3) symmetric flavor lagrangians, constituent quarks in hadrons, quarks and gluons as fundamental fields. It then discusses Quantum chromodynamics as a gauge field theory, functional integration, and Wilson lines and loops, before moving on to discuss gauge–fixing and Faddeev – Popov ghosts, Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin symmetry, and lattice methods. It concludes with a discussion on the anomalies and the strong CP problem, effective action, chiral perturbation theory, deep inelastic scattering, and derivation and solution of the Dokshitzer - Gribov - Lipatov - Altarelli - Parisi equations.
Constructed as a one-term course on strong interactions for advanced students, it will be a useful self-study guide for graduate and PhD students of high energy physics, Quantum Chromodynamics, and the Standard Model.

Introduction to Speechwork for Actors An Inclusive Approach (Acting Essentials)
English | 2022 | ISBN: 1350145955 | 241 pages | True PDF | 8.07 MB
Traditional speech work has long favored an upper-class white accent as the model of intelligibility. Because of that, generations of actors have felt disconnected from their own identities and acting choices.
This much-needed textbook redresses that trend and encourages actors to achieve intelligibility through rigorous language analysis and an exploration of their own accent and articulation practices.

Introduction to Photonics and Laser Physics with Applications
English | 2022 | ISBN: 978-0750352253 | 444 pages | True PDF EPUB | 53.33 MB
Lasers are ubiquitous-from deep space communication to lab on the chip to supermarket product scanning. Although they form an integral part of optics & photonics and extensively used in research areas of science and technology to create multibillion dollar industries, the progress in severely limited in the subcontinent due to lack of experimental training in this field. The need of the hour is to have a self-sufficient book containing laser-related concepts readily available to beginners. The book is written keeping undergraduate and graduate students in mind to possibly serve as a textbook. It is also aimed to provide fundamental reference material on ultrafast lasers and photonics for researchers in the field of optics and bioengineering.
