Fascia - What It Is, and Why It Matters, 2nd Edition
English | 2023 | ISBN: 978-1909141551 | 154 pages | TrueEPUB | 11.76 MB
As the title suggests, this book presents a clear and easy to understand explanation of what the fascia is and the role it plays in the body. As the importance of fascia is increasingly recognized it became obvious that there was a need for a book that clearly and concisely presents the facts. This is that book. It has a strong storyline, with each chapter logically connecting to the next, rather like fascia itself! It is informative and satisfying to read.
Fascia - What It Is and Why It Matters serves as an essential primer for professionals, such as movement educators, physical therapists, osteopaths, massage therapists, fitness professionals, and doctors enabling them to attain a solid grasp of what fascia is and what it does in the body. It provides an understanding of fascia as a tissue, of its role in the various systems of the body and of its clinical significance. The book is complete in itself, but also it may also serve as a springboard to deeper explorations should the reader wish to go further.

Far Infrared and Terahertz Spectroscopy of Polymers
English | 2022 | ISBN: 978-1685076627 | 186 pages | True PDF | 17.21 MB
The presented work summarizes and systematizes an extensive experimental material of the results of studying polymers using spectroscopy in the low-frequency infrared region. Today, spectroscopic studies in the far infrared region are becoming an important tool for characterizing the physical properties of polymers, determined by molecular dynamics and the level of molecular interactions. Low-frequency spectroscopy of intermolecular interactions is the original and most informative source and criterion for establishing the presence of a hydrogen bond in biological substances, multiplets and clusters in ionomers, a criterion for crystallinity, etc. Far IR spectroscopy has proven to be productive in deciphering the molecular nature of solid-state (δ, β, and γ) relaxation transitions in polymers. This was the result of (1) evaluating the potential barriers and sizes of molecular motion units from the spectra, (2) finding empirical correlations between the spectral parameters and molecular characteristics of polymers, and (3) comparing the results with activation barriers for relaxation transitions.

Families, Housing and Property Wealth in a Neoliberal World
English | 2022 | ISBN: 0367551306 | 207 pages | True PDF | 5.08 MB
The twenty-first century has so far been characterized by ongoing realignments in the organization of the economy around housing and real estate. Markets have boomed and bust and boomed again with residential property increasingly a focus of wealth accumulation practices. While analyses have largely focussed on global flows of capital and large institutions, families have served as critical actors. Housing properties are family goods that shape how members interact, organise themselves, and deal with the vicissitudes of everyday economic life. Families have, moreover, increasingly mobilized around their homes as assets, aligning household transitions and practices towards the accumulation of property wealth. The capacities of different families to realise this, however, are highly uneven with housing conditions becoming increasingly central to growing inequalities and processes of social stratification. This book addresses changing relationships between families and their homes over the latest period of neo-liberalization. The book confronts how transformations in households, life-course transitions, kinship and intergenerational relations shape, and are being shaped by, the shifting role of property markets in social and economic processes. The chapters explore this in terms of different aspects of home, family life and socioeconomic change across varied national contexts.

Factorizations of Almost Simple Groups With a Solvable Factor, and Cayley Graphs of Solvable Groups
English | 2022 | ISBN: 978-1470453831 | 112 pages | True PDF | 6 MB
Characterizing factorizations of almost simple groups with a solvable factor, Li and Xia conclude that there are only several infinite families of these non-trivial factorizations, and an almost simple group with such a factorization cannot have socle exceptional Lie type or orthogonal of minus type. They apply the characterization to study s-arc-transitive Cayley graphs of solvable groups, leading to a striking corollary that, except for cycles, a non-bipartite connected 3-arc transitive Cayley graph of a finite solvable group is necessarily a normal cover the Petersen graph or the Hoffman-Singleton graph.
