Technology Innovation Management: Acquisition Considerations by Sheri Wilson
English | 2022 | IASBN: N/A | ASIN: B0BQ6PH7SM | 115 pages | EPUB | 0.54 Mb
The management of technology is more than just developing, buying, and selling. Not only must it be strategically aligned with company and personal goals, but it must also be done with scientific understanding and ethically motivated decision making, above the goal-oriented strategy technology company seeking high returns, understanding its impact down to the consumer level, user, or a single designer of productivity software. The responsibility of this massive industry requires intelligent integrated governance and oversight of humanity and science, not just as users and developers, but as environmental analysts, sociologists, economists, engineers, and strategists. Technology's progression and impact has not nearly reached its fullest potential, and many should ask, if because we are an equality and law-based society that we too are also behind, reactionarily managed by cases, code, rules, tools, protection, enforcement, not operating at our greatest potential and are equal or better than our devices? We are in interdependent, yet non-integrated, getting closer to understanding the full power of technology, yet still far behind in our ability to put all ideas into action. Something can't be bought that isn't yet available, so ideas are the useless legal premise of virtual physics.

About this book
Teaching Spivak Otherwise: A Contribution to the Critique of the Post-Theory Farrago By Jerry D. Leonard
2019 | 104 Pages | ISBN: 1433163519 | PDF | 4 MB
Grounded in the revolutionary Marxist view that "theory ... becomes a material force when it has seized the masses," Teaching Spivak―Otherwise: A Contribution to the Critique of the Post-Theory Farrago activates the practice of critique as a mode of "teaching otherwise" for transformative social change. Taking the post-theory teachings of Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak as its central focus, author Jerry D. Leonard meticulously unpacks Spivak's fashionably dense writings and "talks." His analyses reveal that what passes for "radical" thought in the dominant humanities is actually a sustained mystification that attempts to erase class struggle and class critique from the realm of knowledge. One of the book's most significant interventions is its powerful appropriation of "close reading" as a strategy in the broader project of ideology critique. Teaching Spivak―Otherwise does for Spivak what Frederick Engels did for Eugen Dühring and Mao Zedong did for Deng Xiaoping: it teaches the class lesson that Spivak's thought is a complexly obscured articulation of "new" ruling class ideas in what Lenin called "a farrago of contrasting principles ..., an urge to rise verbally to the higher spheres and conceal the conflicts between the historical groups of the population with phrases." This book will be a useful supplementary text for undergraduate and graduate courses in contemporary critical theory and pedagogy.

In 1906 their was a new club in town. One that only the richest and most powerful of nations could really afford to join. It's chief asset was bigger, faster, shapelier and more powerful than all that had gone before. Membership of this 'exclusive' club sent the message "don't mess with us". As with all new 'must-haves' those who couldn't afford to join, 'wanted-in' all the more, so they too would be seen as a 'Great Power'. In 1906 the must have item was the dreadnought, and the Hapsburg's wanted in.The Austro-Hungarian empire only ever built one class of dreadnought, the four ships of the Tegetthoff class. They were poorly designed, poorly built and suffered 50% losses during the First World War. They were possibly the least successful of their type, but for all their flaws, they have a amazing tale to impart. A tale of corruption, a blind and deaf designer, Italian frogmen and torpedo boats, of revolutions and of an ill-conceived design. This is new edition of a old book, rewritten and I hope an improvement on its poorer predecessor. The tale is told chronologically and draws from a number of sources which I have credited at the back.
