Introduction to Reliability Analysis Probability Models and Statistical Methods
Introduction to Reliability Analysis: Probability Models and Statistical Methods by Shelemyahu Zacks
English | PDF | 1992 | 226 Pages | ISBN : 1461276977 | 23.3 MB
Reliability analysis is concerned with the analysis of devices and systems whose individual components are prone to failure. This textbook presents an introduction to reliability analysis of repairable and non-repairable systems. It is based on courses given to both undergraduate and graduate students of engineering and statistics as well as in workshops for professional engineers and scientists. As aresult, the book concentrates on the methodology of the subject and on understanding theoretical results rather than on its theoretical development.

The initial chapters discuss the linear and nonlinear algebraic equations. The ensuing chapters cover the problems in chemical engineering thermodynamics as well as initial value problems, boundary value problems and convection diffusion problems. Topics related to chemical reaction, dispersion and diffusion as well as steady and transient heat conduction are treated in the final chapters. The book covers a large number of numerical methods including tridiagonal matrix algorithm (TDMA) method, Newton s method, Runge Kutta fourth-order method, Upwind Difference Scheme (UDS) method and Alternating Direction Implicit (ADI) method. Strong emphasis is given on applications and uses of numerical analysis specifically required at the undergraduate level. The book contains numerous worked-out examples and chapter-end exercises. The answers to all chapter-end exercises are provided. The Appendix contains a total of 33 programs in C++ related to the various numerical methods explained in the boo

Interurban Knowledge Exchange in Southern and Eastern Europe, 1870-1950
Eszter Gantner, "Interurban Knowledge Exchange in Southern and Eastern Europe, 1870-1950 "
English | ISBN: 0367333295 | 2020 | 318 pages | EPUB | 4 MB
Around 1900 cities in Southern and Eastern Europe were persistently labeled "backward" and "delayed." Allegedly, they had no alternative but to follow the role model of the metropolises, of London, Paris or Vienna. This edited volume fundamentally questions this assumption. It shows that cities as diverse as Barcelona, Berdyansk, Budapest, Lviv, Milan, Moscow, Prague, Warsaw and Zagreb pursued their own agendas of modernization. In order to solve their pressing problems with respect to urban planning and public health, they searched for best practices abroad. The solutions they gleaned from other cities were eclectic to fit the specific needs of a given urban space and were thus often innovative. This applied urban knowledge was generated through interurban networks and multi-directional exchanges. Yet in the period around 1900, this transnational municipalism often clashed with the forging of urban and national identities, highlighting the tensions between the universal and the local.

International Legal Theory Foundations and Frontiers
International Legal Theory: Foundations and Frontiers
English | 2022 | ISBN: 1108427715 | 449 Pages | PDF | 3.44 MB
Over the past decades international affairs have been increasingly legalized. International law has dramatically expanded into new fields and taken on new challenges. Despite this development, there has been little in-depth scholarship on what impact these changes have had on the field of international legal theory, how it is taught, and where it is going. This volume investigates the major developments in the field and explores the core assumptions and concepts, analytical tools, and key challenges associated with different approaches. An outstanding team of legal academics provides an accessible overview of competing theoretical movements, and a more in-depth understanding of the strengths, preoccupations, insights, and limits of those schools of thought. The contributions provide an authoritative account of current thinking about the theoretical foundations of contemporary international law and will serve as an indispensable resource for students, scholars, and practitioners.
