Land Change Science Observing, Monitoring and Understanding Trajectories of Change on the Earth's Surface
Land Change Science: Observing, Monitoring and Understanding Trajectories of Change on the Earth's Surface By Emilio F. Moran, David L. Skole, B. L. Turner II (auth.), Dr. Garik Gutman, Anthony C. Janetos, Christopher O. Justice, Dr. Emilio F. Moran, John F. Mustard, Ronald R. Rindfuss, David Skole, Billy Lee Turner II, Mark A. Cochrane (eds.)
2004 | 459 Pages | ISBN: 9400743068 | PDF | 12 MB
This volume is a synthesis of the NASA funded work under the Land-Cover and Land-Use Change Program. Hundreds of scientists have worked for the past eight years to understand one of the most important forces that is changing our planet-human impacts on land cover, that is land use. Its contributions span the natural and the social sciences, and apply state-of-the-art techniques for understanding the earth: satellite remote sensing, geographic information systems, modeling, and advanced computing. It brings together detailed case studies, regional analyses, and globally scaled mapping efforts. This is the most organized effort made to understand the dominant force that has been responsible for changing the Earth's biosphere.Audience: This publication will be of interest to students, scientists, and policy makers.

Satellite InSAR Data Reservoir Monitoring from Space
A. Ferretti, "Satellite InSAR dаta: Reservoir Monitoring from Space"
English | 2014 | pages: 178 | ISBN: 9073834716 | PDF | 11,7 mb
This book is also used as course material for a short course, given by the author. For more information, click here Satellite radar data for surface deformation monitoring are gaining increasing attention, and not only within the oil and gas community. They provide a powerful tool for remotely measuring extremely small surface displacements over large areas and long periods of time, without requiring the installation of in-situ equipment. However, apart from remote sensing and radar specialists, only a relatively small number of geoscientists and engineers understand how a radar sensor orbiting the Earth at about 7 km/s from 700km above the Earth's surface can actually measure ground displacements of a fraction of a centimetre. This book provides a step-by-step introduction to satellite radar sensors, SAR imagery, SAR interferometry and advanced InSAR techniques. Rather than a tutorial for remote sensing specialists, the book starts from very basic concepts and explains in plain language the most important ideas related to SAR data processing and why geoscientists and engineers should take a vested interest in this new information source.
