Description
You've already put in so much hard work...
You signed up for & completed courses, graduated film school, watched hours of Youtube tutorials and, of course, practiced editing with your own material.
You have learned how to edit video - great!
But...now you want to get a job in the Film & TV industry, and are coming up short finding anything to edit. Why?
Because simply knowing how to edit won't get you there. You need to start in a position that allows you to gain credibility and trust, and continue learning on the job.;
Instead of focussing on yet even more editing techniques, this course will outline and prepare you to be a junior Assistant Editor - the actual job that will help get your career started. This is not;another video editing course going through the program basics.
Being an Assistant Editor is not 'editing for someone else'. It's an entirely separate job. And it can be difficult to figure out exactly what you need to become one. Knowing the major NLEs - Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro X, DaVinci Resolve; and especially Avid Media Composer - is vital, but knowing a tool is different from understanding how you'll be using it.
This course will set you up to know exactly what will be asked of you day-to-day, so that you can be prepared for the Assistant Editor job. Also included in the course is an Avid Media Composer project template, allowing you to see the organization structure behind a typical live-action project, and use it as resource for any job going forward.
And, while context and a strong foundation is paramount, it can be overwhelming when we're an hour into a lesson and still going over video codec history. So this course will get you to see the big picture as fast as possible, and allow you to identify and fill in any gaps in technical knowledge quickly.
Part 1 - Overview of the Production Workflow Part 2 - An Exploration of the 3 Assistant Editor's Area of Responsibilities
Ingest - Bringing in all the footage and the various steps involved
Assist - Aiding your editor with creative and technical tasks to help best build the story
Conform - Passing off the final cut's assets for the final stage of the workflow
